What happens when you fall in love?
You can't stop thinking about the other person, you desperately want to spend time with them and you talk about them to anyone who will listen.
Well, it's the same when you love God and receive the Holy Spirit with the evidence of speaking in tongues.
You want to follow His word, you want to pray and you want to witness to everyone so they too can share your experience.
This Sunday, Pastor Sylvio from Melbourne came to visit the London assembly and shared some words of wisdom from the Bible, talking about how the love of God compels us to be doers of his Word.
As Pastor Sylvio pointed out, God loves us even more than we love him. Even with the entire universe to think about, the Lord is there for you when you pray... He even knows what we need before we pray to Him.
1 John 4.18.19: There is no fear in love, but perfect love drives out fear, because fear involves punishment. The one who fears has not been perfected in love. We love because He first loved us.
The love of God is not like a natural love - it is spiritual and allows us to walk with Him.
Romans 5:5 Now hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us.
It's this love, through the Holy Spirit, that is the most important thing in our lives.
Rather than making time for God in our busy lives, it should be the opposite, Pastor Sylvio said. We must have God at the centre of our lives and THEN make time for all the other things.
It is through this that we can draw closer to God and allow His love to shine through us in all we do.
