Still or sparkling?

It’s a question we are regularly asked when we head out to dinner (luckily more now as Covid restrictions begin to ease).

But what if there was a third beverage you could drink, which would mean you would be satisfied forever?

The idea in our physical world seems impossible - yet it’s this very concept that God has promised us.

On Sunday, Cam talked about the "living water" message that Jesus shared in the Bible.

Jesus was speaking to a woman by the well when he shared this message.

Jesus answered and said to her, “Whoever drinks of this water will thirst again,
‭‭“But whoever drinks of the water that I shall give him will never thirst. But the water that I shall give him will become in him a fountain of water springing up into everlasting life.” - ‭‭John‬ ‭4:13-14‬ ‭‬‬

Jesus here was not speaking literally but metaphorically - the water represents the Holy Spirit and our relationship with God that will sustain us through anything.

When we receive the Holy Spirit, with the evidence of speaking in tongues, and being baptised, we are comforted and cared for by God.

Cam also pointed out that we need to be mindful of other “waters” that we use to quench our thirst. Sometimes there might be something that seems like a good idea to drink but instead it can contain harmful bacteria that can make us sick.

So next time you are “thirsty” and needing comfort, instead of reaching for a physical, creature comfort, have some prayer and reach out to God.

You might be surprised how refreshed you feel!
