How do you give to those around you?

What are you giving?

On Sunday, Glen spoke about tithing and how God asks us to make sacrifices in our life to honour Him.

He brought out the story of the widow who gives two mites (small coins) in an offering to the Lord, with Jesus praising her actions as more important than those richer than she who gave just a fraction of their fortune.

Mark 12:

41 Jesus sat down opposite the place where the offerings were put and watched the crowd putting their money into the temple treasury. Many rich people threw in large amounts. 42 But a poor widow came and put in two very small copper coins, worth only a few cents. 43 Calling his disciples to him, Jesus said, “Truly I tell you, this poor widow has put more into the treasury than all the others. 44 They all gave out of their wealth; but she, out of her poverty, put in everything—all she had to live on.”

In London, one of the songs we sing is titled Give and it encapsulates many of the scriptures that Glen highlighted from the Bible.

Here are the words of the chorus - have a read and reflect on how you can bring those words to life.

Give and it will come back to you
Good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over
Give and it will come back to you
When you give, give to the Lord

Give in love, give in faith
Give with joy and a smile on your face
Give as the Lord has given to you
How you give is a reflection of your gratitude so

Give and it will come back to you
Good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over
Give and it will come back to you
When you give, give to the Lord

From your heart, give your best
Give unto God and you will be blessed
Don't be stingy, don't be tight
Learn from the widow in the Bible who gave her last mite, so

Give and it will come back to you
Good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over
Give and it will come back to you
When you give, give to the Lord

Give and it will come back to you
Good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over
Give and it will come back to you
When you give, give to the Lord

When you give, give to the Lord
