Leader’s Relationship with God

Judges, Priests, Prophets and Kings

These were some of the highest positions held in the Old Testament, leaders who had a relationship with God. But who are these people to us now as we live in the 21st century?

Last week, Glen tackled this subject, showing how these four roles were set up to connect people with God.

Judges judged and executed the will of God, priests performed rites and rituals, prophets communicated God's word and the kings ruled over the people.

Although those positions may seem archaic or no longer relevant – Glen pointed out that now, it is our role as a spirit-filled Christian to fill these roles.

We've been chosen by God to be an oracle, a connector and a messenger to those searching for answers. This seems like a big ask!

There's a verse in Jeremiah that explains it well:

Jeremiah 1:4-9
4 Then the word of the Lord came unto me, saying, 5 Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations. 6 Then said I, Ah, Lord God! behold, I cannot speak: for I am a child. 7 But the Lord said unto me, Say not, I am a child: for thou shalt go to all that I shall send thee, and whatsoever I command thee thou shalt speak. 8 Be not afraid of their faces: for I am with thee to deliver thee, saith the Lord. 9 Then the Lord put forth his hand, and touched my mouth. And the Lord said unto me, Behold, I have put my words in thy mouth.

This means we don't have to worry about how we will fill these big shoes. Instead, the Lord goes before us and will make sure those who need to hear His message, will.
