Short and Swede
IT'S a freezing day, pure white snow swirling around outside.
But while the weather outside might be frightful, the company inside is delightful.
Revival Centres Church London recently went on tour again, heading to visit the Gothenburg contingent of our assembly in March 2023.
Glen and Sue have been living in this Swedish city, famous for its cinnamon buns "Kanelbullar" and Volvo cars, for almost a year and we finally made it to visit them and Albin, a Swedish national who lives just a few hours away.
It was fantastic to see each other in person again - many of us meeting Albin in the flesh for the first time!
The weekend included walks through the cobbled streets, a visit to the local park, a ferry tour around the many little islands off Gothenburg's coast and even a trip to the Volvo museum.
And while the social side - and eating of Swedish treats side - was a highlight, it was simply a wonderful weekend filled with fellowship.
On Sunday, we were able to have an in-person meeting together. Having a room filled with voices singing songs to praise God was a definite highlight.
Pastor Nick gave the talk, speaking about what to do when you don't know what to do.
We can often face situations that are out of our control and Nick shared scriptures from the Bible that encourage us to look to the Lord.
In Genesis, God gave Abraham clear instructions over what to do as he faced questions about his future - and it's exactly the same for us today.
As it says in the Old Testament:
Psalm 119:105 Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.
God will always be there to guide us, He just wants us to look to Him no matter what. As it says in Colossians, everything you do - do it in the name of the Lord. Give God the glory.
We were so lucky to be able to share time with each other over the weekend, and we can't wait to do it again.
1 Thessalonians 5:18: In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.
