I have heard the words “I love you” so many times from friends, family and loved ones. But is this the same as God's love? What does love truly mean in my life? In the Bible I read that love is the greatest commandment. How is it possible for me to serve and love someone in God’s way?

Over the years I have been to many weddings, listening to the well-read scriptures about love in 1 Corinthians chapter 13. Love is kind, love is gentle, love is not puffed up etc. How is this relevant and how can I apply this in my daily life?
Before I had God's Spirit and knew God, these were my thoughts. I found it impossible to live up to God's type of love.

Now that I have a spiritual connection with God, I can pray, and aim to be more like him. To show love – even when someone is unkind to me. How do I take action to show my love for my neighbour?  I could share a kind word of encouragement, reach out to spend time with someone, or bake a cake for my work colleagues. I could keep an eye out for someone who might be sad or struggling. If I have more compassion or kindness to someone in need, and more acts of love in my life, the world around me could be a more loving place.
